DecisionDirector FAQ

Below is a listing of Frequently Asked Questions relating to DecisionDirector and the NeSIS Project Requirements Survey.  We will continue to update this list throughout the project.  If you have a question that is not answered below, please email the NeSIS Project Team at nusisproject@nebraska.edu.

Can I access DecisionDirector using Firefox?

Yes.  There was a short-term incompatibility with Firefox that was resolved on Dec 12th at approximately 3pm CST.  If you attempted to access DecisionDirector via Firefox prior to that time, please try again.  If you are using Firefox and are still experiencing any problems please email nusisproject@nebraska.edu.

What web browsers can I use to access DecisionDirector?

We recommend you use the following web browsers.  Other web browsers may work but have not been tested:  Internet Explorer version 6.0 or higher Netscape version 8.0 or higher, Safari version 3.0 or higher, or Firefox.

What does Accept Defaults mean in DecisionDirector?

When you first view a requirement in DecisionDirector all of the rating fields are defaulted to “Unknown”.  If you wish to rate a requirement with those values you should check the Accept Defaults checkbox. Your response for that requirement will then be registered and included in the rating analysis process. If you change any of the Need/Have/Source field values or enter a Comment your response will be registered and included. However, if you simply skip over a requirement without checking the Accept Defaults checkbox or you don’t change one or more of the rating or comment fields there will be no response recorded for that requirement.

Can a group respond together to DecisionDirector?

Yes!  We encourage groups within departments or similar areas to review and rate the requirements together.  Simply login under one person’s user id, rate the requirements, and then email nusisproject@nebraska.edu with a list of each person in the group.  That way we can weight that one person’s feedback with all the participants in the group.

What if I don’t see a Source System I use in the drop-down menu?

You only need to select a Source System for a requirement that you “have” today.  The Source System list does not include all possible sources; it includes the most frequently used systems on our campuses.

If you do not find an appropriate Source System listed please email the NeSIS Project Team at nusisproject@nebraska.eduPlease use "Source System" as the Subject for the email to assist in sorting through the NeSISproject emails.

Do I need to use the comments field?

Only if there is additional information or questions you want to record with your rating of a particular requirement.  It is not necessary to use the comments field otherwise.

How do I enter additional requirements?

At the end of each section “page” in DecisionDirector, there are “blank” requirements.  If you have an important function or requirement that is not captured elsewhere, we encourage you to enter the requirement text into the comments filed, and use the rating fields to rate your new requirement.  It will then be incorporated into the final set of requirements for the NeSIS Project.

Do I need to click the SAVE button found at the bottom of the “voting” page?

Yes!  To ensure that your vote information and comments are recorded, you MUST click the SAVE button at the bottom of each section when you are done voting in that section. If you do not click the SAVE button, your votes will not be recorded.

How can I see a summary of the number of requirements I’ve responded to?

You can see how many requirements you have responded to at a summary level by clicking on a “KP” (KnowledgePack) section link in the Navigation Tree (on the left side of your screen).  A table will appear listing the number of requirements per section within that “KP” as well as the number you’ve responded to.

Can I change my password?

Yes, after you log in for the first time, or at any other time afterward, simply click the "Change Password" link at the top right of your screen.  If you forget your password, simply email support@advantiv.com and your original password (matching your login id) will be restored.
