Two Systems Working Together
The Situation
The institutions of the Nebraska State College System and the Nebraska University System have outdated student information administrative software systems on their various campuses. These systems have been in place for years and represent technology that is no longer competitive in the Higher Education marketplace. Both systems of campuses require new solutions that can provide online functions necessary to attract and meet the current needs of students, faculty, and administration.
Two Systems Working Together
In 2007 both Nebraska University and the Nebraska State Colleges began independent efforts to seek replacement administrative systems for their respective institutions. At the request of the governor, and for purposes of reaching efficiency and cost savings goals for the state, the Nebraska State College System and the Nebraska University System began discussions in December 2007 for ways of collaborating on their separate software acquisition efforts. The focus of these conversations was on a combined Student and Financial Aid software solution.
The outcome of these discussions led to a combined procurement effort which has been labeled the NeSIS project. The NeSIS project is now a united Nebraska endeavor to select and implement a new Student Information System for all of the State College and University of Nebraska campuses.
